That time Junction 7...

Image
The time Junction 7 a charity said this to me "But she looked fine at Ayclive" (when I could still go) lmao  and held my food parcel to ransom (years ago) because I wanted to help my community with delivery for elderly and disabled and they claimed that was me slxgging them off lol.  #ableism I avoid any charities that make my life harder now. I don't forget when and how and who has treated me badly, I just advocate so others don't have to endure the same mistreatment, and I'm glad I'm nothing like those who #harmed me when I needed #help instead. ❤️❤️❤️ I never dared ask them for help ever again and never have, and have had their supporters supporting this mistreatment and hating on me.  Tells me everything.  Sarah Wingfield  KawaiiDollDecora.uk

PIP and Universal Credit reforms risk destroying disabled people’s independence and routes into work:

Image
PIP and Universal Credit reforms risk destroying disabled people’s independence and routes into work: I’ve written to Andy Burnham about the impact PIP and Universal Credit reforms could have on disabled people who are already trying to work and remain independent. For me, further cuts or restrictions wouldn’t push me into employment — they could make me homeless, bankrupt and destroy everything I’ve been building towards becoming self-employed. PIP helps cover the extra costs of disability and supports independence. Councils, the NHS and charities simply cannot absorb the consequences if that support is removed. Disabled people need meaningful consultation, proper impact assessments and safeguards against poverty, debt and homelessness. You cannot claim to support disabled people into work while taking away the very support that makes work and independence possible. #SystemicAbleism #DisabilityRights #DisabilitySupport #PIP #UniversalCredit #StrongerTogether My email: PIP and Universa...

Learning to ignore:

Image
Something I'm trying harder to do: ignore threats and abuse. Sometimes the strongest response is no response at all. When we're triggered, especially as neurodivergent people or those who have experienced trauma, the urge to defend ourselves can feel overwhelming. Trust me on this! 🙏🏻 We want to explain, correct misinformation, provide evidence, and make people understand. The difficulty is that not everyone is looking for understanding. Some people are looking for conflict. I've learned that constantly responding can keep us trapped in a cycle of stress, anxiety, and emotional exhaustion. Every comment becomes another debate. Every explanation becomes another screenshot. Every defence becomes another opportunity for someone to keep the conversation going. Protecting your peace is not weakness. Setting boundaries is not weakness. Walking away from an argument does not mean you were wrong. Sometimes the healthiest thing we can do is trust that those who genuinely want the ...

Kindness...

Image
Kindness... My ex-abuser was handed court papers yesterday. At the same time, I find myself suffocating under the weight of other people's judgement, assumptions, lack of fact-checking, and lack of compassion. And honestly? I'm tired. Can we have some kindness back, please? Because behind every profile, page, blog, business, group, and public post is a human being. A real person. 🙏🏻✨ A person carrying things you may know nothing about. You don't know what someone is facing behind closed doors. You don't know what battles they're fighting, what trauma they're processing, what legal proceedings they're navigating, what health issues they're enduring, or how much strength it took for them to simply get out of bed that morning. Yet so many people seem comfortable judging, criticising, gossiping, and piling on without ever stopping to ask whether they're being fair. As someone with ADHD and autism, I feel things deeply. Disrespect, dishonesty...

The Gretna Green, Great Grub & Birthday Retreat Daydreams:

Image
The Gretna Green, Great Grub & Birthday Retreat Daydreams: Yesterday, Peter took me for some lovely food at Gretna Green in Newton Aycliffe. 💜 This place holds a lot of fond memories for me, and the staff are always welcoming, friendly, and helpful, even when they're rushed off their feet. Life hasn't exactly been gentle lately. I've had some incredibly difficult pain days, moments where my body has completely seized up, very little sleep, and more than my fair share of negativity directed my way. Yet I keep showing up, keep supporting others, and keep moving forward. One thing I've learned is that some people only know how to tear others down, while others know how to build people up. I'm choosing to focus on the people who support, encourage, and care. Last night I was awake until 6am after a bit of gaming on Avakin Life, but what kept me going through the early hours was daydreaming about my birthday weekend in July. 🌿✨ Peter now has a small mountain of Boo...

Navigating Friendships:

Image
How it feels trying to have genuine friendships nowadays… You step in gently, with good intentions, an open heart, and honesty at the core of who you are — and somehow still find yourself navigating hidden traps, unspoken expectations, and shifting loyalties that were never made clear to begin with. Not everyone is who they present themselves to be, and not every connection is built on the same depth, care, or respect that you naturally bring. That can be hard to process, especially when you lead with authenticity and expect the same in return. But that disconnect isn’t a reflection of your worth. It’s a reflection of a world that has become comfortable with surface-level connection — where appearance is prioritised over substance, and where being genuine can sometimes feel like a risk rather than a strength. And still… you show up. Still… you try. Still… you choose to be real in spaces that don’t always hold that same energy. Because real connection does exist. It just isn’t found eve...

What's getting under my skin:

Image
What's getting under my skin: I’m getting genuinely tired of people speaking on me without taking even two minutes to fact check anything they’re saying. It’s not even about disagreement — it’s the confidence people have to be wrong while being loud about it. That’s the part that grates. I’ve built what I’ve built through consistency, through effort, through pushing myself even on days where my body doesn’t want to cooperate. Chronic pain doesn’t pause the work — it just makes it harder. And I still show up. 👊🏻✨ So when people come into my space trying to question, minimise, or discredit that without doing basic research… it’s not curiosity, it’s carelessness at best — and disrespect at worst. I already know I don’t fit neatly into this world. I’m not supposed to. I didn’t build my life to be digestible for people who don’t take the time to understand it. If I’m not for you, that’s completely fine. Not everything is for everyone, and not everyone has good taste. 💋 But what you w...

Foot X-Ray:

Image
Update on the foot… I’ve had it X-rayed and it’s not broken — which is a relief. But it is soft tissue damage, and honestly that doesn’t make it painless or minor. Soft tissue injuries can be brutal. The swelling, the bruising, the way it throbs when you lower it, the way it reminds you that your body has limits whether you like it or not. People often hear “not broken” and think “oh good, you’re fine then.” But healing is still healing. Pain is still pain. Mobility is still impacted. Especially when you already live in a body that works overtime just to function. So for now it’s rest, elevation, pacing, and listening to my body — even when I’d rather be doing a hundred other things. Disabled bodies don’t get the luxury of pushing through. We adapt. We adjust. We keep going — just differently. Be gentle with yourself if you’re healing from something that “isn’t that bad.” Your pain is still valid. My Not-To-Do list:

Image
My Not-To-Do list: Well… that wasn’t on my to-do list. 🙃 I fell and twisted my ankle. One minute I was walking, next minute gravity said “absolutely not” and now I’m wrapped up in towels like a poorly little burrito. 😅 It’s sore. It’s frustrating. And if you know me, you know resting is not exactly my favourite hobby. I like being productive. I like moving. I like doing. But sometimes the body makes the decision for you. So I’m elevating it. Wrapping it. Being gentle. Letting it heal. 🩷 This is your reminder (and clearly mine too): Rest is not weakness. Slowing down is not failure. Healing is still progress. If I’m a little quieter while I recover, that’s why. Just sending love to my ankle and hoping it behaves itself. 💗✨ — Sarah Wingfield ❤️  #Healing #RestIsProductive #DisabledAndDetermined #KawaiiDollDecora #InConcreteIBloom Alt text: A close-up photo of a hand holding a square card against a soft, pale background. Thirty-Eight:

Image
Thirty-eight years on this earth and some days I still feel like I’m standing in the rubble of battles I never asked to fight. Healing from trauma isn’t linear. It isn’t aesthetic. It isn’t a cute quote on a pastel background. It’s messy and inconvenient and sometimes it creeps up on you years later and whispers, “You’re not done yet.” And when it comes to my son’s cancer — and all that happened around us when he was diagnosed — I don’t think a mother ever just “gets over” watching her child fight for their life while simultaneously navigating systemic failures, corruption, and ableism that caused real, tangible harm. That kind of trauma doesn’t sit neatly in the past. It rewires you. It embeds itself in your nervous system. It lives in your bones. Some days I’m strong and composed and overflowing with gratitude. Other days it hits me sideways and I realise I’m still carrying pieces of it all — not just the illness, but the environment we were forced to survive within. Then the guilt ...

The biggest issue:

The biggest issue for chronic pain warriors is not 'addiction' it's suicide #suicideawareness Credit: KawaiiDollDecora.UK Sarah Wingfield  Independent Disability Advocate    #disabilityinclusion #strongertogether #disability #disabilityawareness #disabilitysupport #disabilityrights Alt text: Pastel kawaii-style illustration showing a sad-looking young woman with long pink hair and glasses, hugging a plush bunny for comfort. She is surrounded by soft clouds, hearts, sparkles, and a rainbow arching across the top. Cute but somber details include small skull characters, a crying cloud holding a noose-shaped rope, and a tipped-over pill bottle with tablets spilling out, symbolising the seriousness of chronic pain and mental health struggles. Text on the image reads: “The biggest issue for chronic pain warriors is not ‘addiction’ it’s suicide” with the hashtag #suicideawareness. Struggles build bridges:

Struggles build bridges: https://www.mind.org.uk/about-us/our-policy-work/the-big-mental-health-report/#findings Alt text: A quote on a light purple background that reads: “We need shorter wait times. You don't know if someone suffering will still be alive to go to their next appointment which is over a month away.” Below the quote, it says: Big Mental Health Survey. 2025 respondent. On the 8th... I nearly became a number, a statistic, a memory... An ASD episode, PTSD and on top of AuAdhd, I struggled.  Which is why I use my struggles to help others. We should never have to endure this - but we don't have to be alone in it. ❤️  Hit pause and rest, and don't let the bully in your brain - win. I'm fighting back now but I have a long road to recovery and mental health healing isn't linear, it's ups and downs and goods and bads - it's a rollercoaster and it's more complex for those with conditions and disabilities.  Together we can support each other and com...

Crying but Glowing: Art drop:

Image
✨ New Art Drop – “Kawaii Doll Decora” ✨ She’s crying, but she’s still glowing. 💜 This piece came from a place of duality – the quiet ache that sits in your chest when life feels heavy, and the small, almost childlike things we cling to in order to feel okay again. Stickers, colours, neon chaos, the little tokens of joy that remind us we’re still here. “Kawaii Doll Decora” is about self-care in its loudest form. It’s about crying without shame, then surrounding yourself with pretty things, soft things, nostalgic things – whatever helps you keep moving. For me, this artwork is proof that even when we’re hurting, we can build beauty around ourselves and wear it like armour. 🌸 Sometimes healing isn’t quiet. Sometimes it’s messy, bright, and decorated with love. 🌸 Sarah Kawaii Doll Decora ❤️✨  #kawaiiaesthetic #kawaii #cute #chibi #cyute #y2k #bubblegum #kawaiifit #glitter #bubblegumbabe #art #neonart #KawaiiDollDecora  Alt text: Digital illustration of a stylized characte...

Overload, Support, and Purpose: My Journey:

Image
Overload, Support, and Purpose: My Journey : I have an important meeting and an appointment today, so I’ve cancelled all other plans to focus on these. Yesterday, my housing officer came earlier than expected — before my breakthrough worker arrived. Breakthrough is a DCC service that helps me declutter and organise because of my mobility issues. I’m glad I still have this support and that it hasn’t been sabotaged yet, especially given what I’ve seen happen to other services. I rely on it. She may have thought she was helping by offering to remove my stairlift — one of my most needed and relied-upon mobility aids. But this triggered me and made me feel invalidated. I literally used the stairlift the night before. I guess I mask well, but seriously?! The sudden change caught me off guard and inside I was screaming, though outside I just said, “Yeah, it’s fine, come in.” I wasn’t fine. On top of everything else from yesterday, it all pushed me into overload. I broke. I reached out to my F...
