Choosing Growth Every Day:

Image
~Choosing Growth Every Day~ Happy Friday everyone! 💛 I hope you all have a wonderful Friday and an even better weekend. This weekend I'll be working on script breakdowns, revising for my driving test and continuing to move several exciting projects forward. Every day is another opportunity to learn, improve and take one more step towards the future I'm building. One thing I've learned is that growth is a choice. It's choosing healthier habits. It's choosing to keep learning. It's choosing to protect your peace. It's choosing to keep moving forward, even when life hasn't always been easy. I'm really pleased to have signed up for the Resilience programme at Pioneering Care Partnership (PCP), where I'll be taking part in sessions to continue developing healthier ways of managing conflict, building resilience and strengthening my wellbeing. None of us stop growing, and I think that's something worth celebrating. My health journey is also cont...

Aycliffe Alternative Magazine Update:

Image
Update: I just want to take a moment to be transparent with you all. Behind the scenes, I’ve been balancing a lot — including an important driving test tomorrow and ongoing court proceedings regarding a stalking situation. It’s been intense, and I’ve had to prioritise my safety and wellbeing where needed. That said, Aycliffe Alternative Magazine is still very much moving forward. I’m currently working through the next issue, and I’m aiming for release on or before the 10th. I won’t rush something that represents our community — I want it done properly, with the quality and care it deserves. As always, this magazine is community-led. If you have:  – Articles – Creative pieces – Local stories – Events to share – Small businesses or services you’d like featured I’m still accepting submissions, and I’m also offering free advertising spots in this issue. This space exists to uplift, connect, and give people a voice — and that doesn’t stop just because life gets heavy. Thank you for yo...

From Survival to Advocacy:

Image
From Survival to Advocacy: I Didn’t Wait to Be Seen — I Built Something That Couldn’t Be Ignored There was a time where I wasn’t seen. Not properly. Not fully. Not in a way that felt human. I existed in spaces that weren’t built for me, trying to fit into narratives that never included people like me in the first place. And when you live like that long enough, you start to question your own existence. Your voice. Your worth. You wonder if maybe you’re just… too much. Or not enough. Or simply invisible. But the truth is — I was never invisible. I was just unheard. And there’s a difference. I didn’t wake up one day confident, empowered, or “successful”. I built this. Slowly. Messily. Painfully at times. Through trauma. Through being dismissed. Through being misunderstood. Through navigating systems that were never designed to support me — as a disabled woman, as someone with lived experience, as someone who refused to stay quiet. And somewhere in that process, I realised something import...

Standing Strong in Truth: Amplifying Voices and Building Change

Image
Standing Strong in Truth: Amplifying Voices and Building Change I’m working hard piecing articles together, and I’m doing it for the right reasons — accessibility and community.  No matter how much you try or how much you give, there will always be those who can’t see your authenticity or kindness, who mislabel you simply because they want to not like you.  To that I say: stand strong in your truth. Keep going. Keep helping. Keep giving — until you’ve helped so many that their words are buried by the change you’ve created. I’m only just getting started, and I will amplify the voices that deserve recognition. I’m not biased — that’s my character, and I stand firmly on that. Nepotism and hate campaigns serve no real purpose. If you feel the need to make war, don’t drag me into it. Thank you. — Sarah ❤️ Independent Disability Advocate  #disabilityinclusion #strongertogether #disability #disabilityawareness #disabilitysupport #disabilityrights Alt text: A woman with pink hair...

This project was born from the idea that disabled and neurodivergent voices deserve to be front and center; unfiltered, unapologetic, and powerful. Working on this alongside Larissa Minner and Nathan Chung and our amazing contributors has been emotional and empowering. This zine is for anyone who’s ever felt unseen or unheard, and I’m so proud of what we’ve built together. The debut issue features raw stories, original artwork, essays, poetry, and reflections from disabled creators; including an inc...
