Realising You're Disabled Isn't a One-Time Event One of the things many non-disabled people don't realise is that coming to terms with disability isn't something that happens once. It happens over and over again. Sometimes it's because a condition worsens. Sometimes it's because you discover a new limitation or barrier you hadn't encountered before. Sometimes it's remembering something you used to do without thinking that is no longer accessible to you. Other times, it's simply being reminded that the world wasn't designed with your needs in mind. Disability can involve a constant process of adjustment, adaptation, and grief.
