 Introduction to Sociability app: The Sociability app is a free mobile app that provides detailed accessibility information for businesses like restaurants and gyms, helping disabled people and others with accessibility needs find welcoming places to socialize and exercise. It uses crowd-sourced data, user reviews, and photos to give users detailed information on features such as entrances, interior spaces, toilets, and sensory accommodations. Founded by a wheelchair user, Sociability aims to make the world more inclusive by removing barriers and empowering people to make informed decisions about accessible venues.  I myself have downloaded this app, and encourage others in Newton Aycliffe and surrounding areas to install it too. We can upload pictures and information regarding accessibility issues and help inform our disabled and SEND communities as to what places are like and if they're autism-friendly, have steps or ramps and more! I've just submitted my proposal to Great Aycliffe Town Council regarding the safety concerns with the Santa Tours event. This will be debated at the council offices next Wednesday, 26th November 2025. Attached is the submitted proposal and I hope that we can come to a suitable arrangement. I just sat my first driving test!  It was very different to what I expected and I got flustered during a parallel park 😅 so that's why I am unsuccessful at the moment - but it's a fail I can be proud of. Not too long ago I was bedbound and housebound and could only dream of opportunities like this - so I'm putting in for my test again, going to quash those nerves - which will be easier for my AuAdhd as I now know what to expect next time and I will keep going.  I am a turtle 🐢 not a hare - but I'm determined and will reach the finish line at some point! My instructor believes that I should pass the second time - I was well prepared for this, did the theory app with the driving section and YouTube and Tiktok so just got to chill my beans. Fighting Ostracism with Grace and Hope: Sometimes, standing up for yourself comes with consequences you never expected. Last year, I sought something simple: an apology. Acknowledgement for the verbal abuse and mistreatment I endured. I believed that honesty and accountability could lead to understanding — maybe even healing. But instead of resolution, I found myself facing something even harder: ostracism. Since then, I’ve been the target of online hate and exclusion, all because I spoke up for myself and for fairness. Today, I cancelled my home decluttering support — not because I didn’t want help , but because I needed to honour my mental health needs. Negativity and hurt can become a prison, and people don’t always understand how deeply that sabotages everything. I’m having a hard day. I need to process, to cry, and to stop things from escalating into a mental health emergency — especially with my AuADHD, disabilities, and PTSD. Our conditions impact us. I’m taking a proactive approach, and if that means losing a service or support, then so be it. I’m done begging the world to adjust and being punished for doing what I need to stay safe and healthy. I will be okay. I just need to cry and rest — maybe even sleep again — to calm my nervous system. Other chronically unwell people will understand this: we are constantly punished for our needs. DCC Update - employment support and podcast: I’ve just been informed that Andrew Husband has offered to personally look into my situation. I’m honestly a little shocked to finally be getting access to someone who can help — but I’m also hopeful. If this is handled properly, it could resolve everything that has happened, including: • Having the podcast reinstated • Ensuring my images are shared as originally intended (not cropped) • Regaining access to the employment support I should never have lost This should never have become a fight. It has taken so much energy and unnecessary distress. Once this is resolved, I truly hope we can move towards a more positive working relationship with the council — especially given the volunteer safeguarding and youth work I already do with them.   I should be able to speak on my hometown’s radio. I should be able to share my lived experience as a Newtonian, to explain why I have started a petition calling for the legalisation of regulated pepper spray for self-defence. My hard work should and could be printed and represented. I should be heard by the very community I belong to. Instead, I am being invited to speak by people outside of this town — radio presenters, podcasters, campaigners — who see value in my voice and my work. Support and representation should never be conditional. It should never be “sometimes.” It should never depend on who you’re liked by, controlled by, or aligned with. Many people locally have asked me to run for council. A growing number want me to represent the disabled community. And I will represent my community — but I cannot and will not step into a council culture where corruption, ostracism, and silencing are allowed to continue. If you dislike me, at least dislike me for the right reasons — not because you’ve been puppeteered by someone else or you've taken on someone else’s narrative.  Think for yourself.
