Why Pride is still needed:

Why Pride is still needed: Pride is still needed because legal equality does not automatically mean lived equality. LGBTQ+ people can still experience bullying, harassment, discrimination, rejection from family, hate crime and hostility simply for being who they are. Trans people in particular are currently at the centre of intense public and political debate, and young LGBTQ+ people can grow up hearing that their identity is something shameful, controversial or unacceptable. Pride is therefore about more than celebration. It is about visibility, community, remembrance and the freedom to exist without fear. It remembers people who fought for rights that many now take for granted, honours those who suffered or died because of prejudice, and gives isolated people a chance to see that they are not alone. Supporting Pride also doesn't require everyone to have identical beliefs about every issue involving sex, gender, sexuality or policy. People can disagree respectfully on difficult qu...

Why it's not an equal playing field:

"What's wrong with society isn't just abusers, it's those that are indoctrinated with toxic ideals that ENABLE the abusers" What’s wrong with society isn’t just abusers — it’s the toxic ideals that enable them. I keep seeing comments aimed at girls and women saying “respect is mutual” as if we all exist on equal ground. We don’t. That argument deliberately ignores reality. In many countries, girls have no legal rights at all. They are not safe in hospitals, not safe in schools, not safe within systems meant to protect them. They are abused by teachers, doctors, police officers, relatives — the very people society tells them to trust. Disabled girls and women are often forced onto contraception, not for their autonomy or wellbeing, but because male violence is so normalised that the responsibility is placed on victims instead of perpetrators. And this isn’t rare. It’s systemic. Nine-year-old girls are being married off and dying from internal bleeding. Female genit...

Birthday:

Today is my birthday. I may not yet be where I want to be, but I am incredibly proud of how far I’ve come. After spending over a decade bedbound and housebound, I’ve changed my life — for the better. Through it all, I’ve never stopped trying to uplift and support others. Even from a hospital bed, I made it my mission to help women across the world avoid wheelchairs from SPD/PGP (symphysis pubis dysfunction) by sharing vital physio knowledge — knowledge that saved their mobility and dignity. I’ve become an author, blogger, producer, music artist and actress. I’ve contributed to films, performed in charity plays, and spoken up in council meetings. I fought for seating at local bus stops because I knew how important that small win could be for someone in pain. I’ve dedicated time to charities and supported organisations — even when I was mistreated, sidelined, or discarded. I’ve been relentless in my advocacy. I would’ve loved to be a local councillor, to represent those whose voices ofte...
