Publicly Muted, Warned and Embarrassed for Discussing My Legal Medication:

Image
Publicly Muted, Warned and Embarrassed for Discussing My Legal Medication -Not a safe space afterall: I came across a creator who appeared to be doing amazing work promoting independent music. A song about cannabis was literally playing during the livestream—yet when I mentioned that I am legally prescribed medical cannabis in the UK, she publicly muted me. When I challenged the behaviour as discrimination, she then publicly warned me in front of everyone. I had broken no laws or clearly stated rules. I was discussing medication legally prescribed to treat my disabilities—not promoting illegal drug use. To publicly single out, silence and embarrass a disabled person for speaking about their lawful medication is unacceptable. Cannabis was apparently acceptable as entertainment in a song, but not when a disabled medical-cannabis patient spoke about the reality of using it. I have since left and blocked the creator. I will not remain in spaces where disabled people are publicly humiliated...

When an Autistic Brain Can’t Just “Move On”

Image
When an Autistic Brain Can’t Just “Move On” Just because an autistic or otherwise neurodivergent person is still talking about something that hurt them does not automatically mean they are attention-seeking, dramatic, “obsessed,” or refusing to move on. Sometimes the brain genuinely has not finished processing what happened. Rumination is when the mind keeps circling back to the same event, conversation, question or feeling, often trying to understand it, make sense of it, work out what should have happened differently, or resolve something that still feels unfinished. For autistic people, this can be especially intense because several autistic traits can make painful or confusing situations much harder to mentally put down. Perseveration can make it difficult to disengage from a thought once it has become emotionally significant. Monotropic attention can cause the brain to focus very deeply on a small number of things at once. If one of those things is an unresolved conflict, injustic...

Delulu until Successu 💅🏻✨ My 2026 Mantra. Finished this bright, chaotic little piece and I’m obsessed with how it came together. 💖 Leopard print nails, neon colours, sparkles, bubble lettering and pure delusional confidence. 😂✨ Sometimes you really do have to be a little bit delulu and keep believing in the thing until it finally starts becoming real. Why don't you just get paid work:

Image
“Why don’t you just get paid work?” Ah yes… because apparently nobody facing disability, inaccessible workplaces or discrimination has ever thought of that one before. 🤣 This is exactly why I talk about systemic ableism. The assumption that someone who isn’t in conventional paid employment simply isn’t trying completely ignores the barriers disabled people can face when trying to access, remain in, or create sustainable work. I am trying to build paid work for myself. I create, advocate, support people, develop projects and work towards making what I do financially sustainable. The issue isn’t a lack of effort. It’s the confidence some people have in judging a life they haven’t taken five minutes to understand. Ask questions. Have a different perspective. Discuss difficult subjects. But assumptions aren’t facts — and “just get a job” isn’t a solution to systemic barriers. 💪🏻✨ #DisabilityAdvocacy #Ableism #SystemicAbleism #DisabledAndWorking #DisabilityAwareness #AccessibilityMatters...

I Care Because I Know What It Means to Need Support

Image
I Care Because I Know What It Means to Need Support: I Care Because I Know What It Means to Need Support I restarted blogging while I was pregnant, but my instinct to advocate for others started long before that. For most of my life, I have spoken up when something felt unfair, harmful or inaccessible. I have raised awareness of disability, challenged barriers, supported people through difficult situations and tried to use my experiences to create something positive. This collage holds so many chapters of my life. It shows pregnancy and motherhood. It shows disability, mobility aids and moments when simply getting through the day required determination. It shows hospital visits and the years in which I supported my son through Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. It also shows campaigning, protest, awareness work and the gradual development of the advocate I am today. Behind every photograph is a story. Some are filled with love and joy. Others represent fear, exhaustion, pain and circumstan...

What Cyberstalking Looks Like in 2026:

Image
What Cyberstalking Looks Like in 2026: Guess I must have reached #CelebrityStatus now I have my very own exclusive obsessive fan club. 😅 Apparently, I live rent-free in a lot of people's heads. *Opens popcorn.* 🍿🤣 What have I supposedly done now? Honestly... I lose track. That probably sounds ridiculous to anyone who hasn't experienced sustained online harassment, but unfortunately this isn't directed at just one person anymore. There are multiple people who seem to spend a bizarrely unhealthy amount of time watching me, reposting or redistributing my original copyrighted work without permission, talking about me, and making me the topic of conversation, with hope they'll get attention - and they are. If a general post makes someone feel personally called out, perhaps it's worth asking why... #cinderella #shoefits  Here's the simple part some people keep missing... I don't want your attention. I don't want my name in your posts. I don't want my na...

Advocacy with force at High Force:

Image
Advocacy with force at High Force: Today we visited High Force, and while the scenery was absolutely breathtaking, the experience was also a reminder of the barriers disabled people can still face. Living with chronic pain, EDhS and POTS means I have to plan everything carefully. I brought a foldable chair so I could rest safely without relying on there being seating available. Instead of being asked about my accessibility needs, I felt I was spoken to abruptly before I had the chance to explain why I had it. The interaction left me feeling anxious and, for a while, like I was the problem. The important part, though, is that I advocated for myself. I stayed calm, explained my needs, acknowledged that staff have rules to follow, and respectfully said I didn't appreciate the way I was being spoken to. That might not sound like much to some people, but for someone who has experienced anxiety and trauma around conflict, it represents huge personal growth. Disabled people aren't ask...

It's about recognising when harm has been caused, taking responsibility for our actions, and being willing to learn and grow. What Surviving Looks Like:

"This is what surviving looks like. Not strong in the dramatic Hollywood sense. Strong in the sense of carrying chronic pain, trauma, neurodivergence, loneliness, judgement, anxiety, and depression every day and still choosing to wake up tomorrow." Why Advocacy Matters:

Image
Why Advocacy Matters 💜 As an advocate, one of the hardest lessons I had to learn was how to advocate for myself. Helping others always came naturally. Standing up for vulnerable people, challenging unfair treatment, supporting those who felt unheard, and amplifying voices that were being ignored felt easy compared to speaking up for my own needs. Today, that has changed. I am proud to advocate for others, but I am equally proud to advocate for myself. Unfortunately, self-advocacy is often misunderstood. People who set boundaries, speak up, promote their work, challenge discrimination, or refuse to stay silent are often labelled selfish, narcissistic, attention-seeking, or worse. The reality is very different. Self-advocacy is not about ego. It is about recognising your own worth and understanding that your voice matters too. When disabled people, survivors, neurodivergent individuals, or anyone facing adversity speak up, they are not asking for special treatment. They are asking for d...

I will never understand some people:

Image
Someone I've never spoken to decided to send this to my inbox. We're not friends. I don't know him. Yet apparently my existence upset him enough to message: "F***ing silly b*tch go die." This isn't criticism. It isn't debate. It isn't accountability. It's simply online abuse. The irony is that people often ask why advocates speak about harassment, pile-ons, and toxic online behaviour. This is exactly why. I don't know Adam Broughton, but he clearly knows who I am. Anyway, screenshot taken, report submitted, block button pressed. 🚫 If my existence annoys people this much, I must be doing something right. I won't stop actioning real life positive change and demanding accountability when needed. Those that choose to abuse further as opposed to accountability - are just proving who they really are. Understanding the core fundamentals of Abuse:

Image
Understanding the core fundamentals of Abuse: no no An educational presentation: Abuse can occur right under your nose and you may not even realise that what you are witnessing - or experiencing - is abuse. Not all abuse is physical. Sometimes it looks like: - Manipulation - Intimidation - Humiliation - Gaslighting - Coercive control - Financial restriction - Isolation - Online harassment - Fear - Threats - Exploitation - Psychological harm Many forms of abuse become normalised over time, which is why awareness and education are so important. As part of my Level 2 Understanding Domestic Abuse studies, I created this educational awareness guide exploring the many different forms abuse can take and the long-term impact it can have on individuals, families and communities. This presentation was created to encourage: - Awareness - Compassion - Safeguarding - Education - Healthier communities - Survivor support We need more people choosing to be helpful instead of harmful. Abuse thrives in ...

Living in and around Darlington:

Image
Hi everyone, Join the group here: https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1Dvxh1TG6z/ I wanted to let you all know that I’ve now taken over the Living in Darlington group. Moving forward, this space will be run with fairness, transparency, and respect for everyone in the community. Different views are welcome here — as long as they’re shared respectfully and without personal attacks. This group is about Darlington, the people in it, and real conversations that matter. It’s not about bias, control, or silencing voices. As someone who has always been an advocate first, that won’t change.  I believe in open discussion, evidence-based conversations, and making sure people feel heard — not shut down. There will be clear boundaries:  – No harassment or targeting – No misinformation presented as fact – No abuse towards other members Aside from that, you’re free to speak, share, and engage. Let’s build this into something positive for the whole community. — Sarah Wingfield ❤️  Independe...

Hard work leads to results:

Image
Hard work leads to results: People only see the results of your hard work… they don’t see the sacrifices, the heartache, the late nights, the studying, the exhaustion it takes to get there. Someone said I’m successful - and that’s beautiful in its own way. Because in terms of love, my spirit tribe, connection, support, and friendships… yes, I am successful. 🤍 But business-wise? I’m not there yet, and that’s okay. 🫶🏻 What people are starting to see now is just the beginning of my journey. I still have mountains to climb. To me, success means living comfortably and creating real, positive change, helping others while I rise. I’ve got a long way to go… but I’m going. 💅🏻✨ And to those who uplift me, see me, and believe in me, from my heart, Thank you. Truly. I’m here, and I’m doing this… because you believed in me when I didn’t. Love to you all 🤍 Let's keep going?! ❤️ Sarah Wingfield  KawaiiDollDecora.uk #hardwork #sacrifices #advocacy #success #connection #community #support #mo...

Vlog update:

Image
Vlog update ❣️ ( Correction *in MARCH ahaha 😂 ) I’ve just shared a new vlog where I talk about everything I’ve been working on lately — from upcoming projects and creative ideas to the magazines and community initiatives I’m involved in. There’s a lot happening behind the scenes at the moment, including future editions of Aycliffe Alternative Magazine, creative work through Kawaii Doll Decora, music with K•Doll, and the wider community projects I’m passionate about supporting. I thought it might be nice to put it all in one place so people can see what’s coming next and how these projects all connect to the bigger goal of building more inclusive, creative community spaces. If you’d like to follow the journey or get involved in future editions, feel free to have a read. 💫 https://kawaiidolldecora.uk/aycliffe-alternative — Sarah Wingfield Independent Disability Advocate  KawaiiDollDecora.uk Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/6scx6w4IeXQXG4kKsYCbND?si=H-yuzZcBRyuyYQtLAU7LzA Ba...

Compassion Not Guaranteed:

Image
Something I’ve learned from both sides of the system — as a disabled person and as a carer — is that compassion isn’t guaranteed. Genuine carers exist, and they are incredible people. But they are also rare, and pretending otherwise doesn’t help anyone. When we talk about abuse, neglect, or systemic failures in care, healthcare, or support services, people often react defensively instead of listening. But here’s the truth: We cannot change what we refuse to acknowledge. Calling out harm isn’t “negative”. It’s accountability. It’s advocacy. And it’s the first step toward building systems where compassion is the norm, not the exception. If we want real change for disabled people and vulnerable communities, we have to be willing to face uncomfortable truths. — Sarah Wingfield #abuse #compassion #change #support #disabilityadvocacy Alt Text: Kawaii pastel quote graphic branded with “Sarah Wingfield – Actress | Author | Advocate” and “KawaiiDollDecora.uk”. Retrophiliac: Monetising false narratives and hate:

Image
Yes I am aware Retrophiliac has changed the narrative and is also lying about me on their page. Disabled people deserve to be paid - absolutely - so why is Retrophiliac changing the narrative to bully and harass me and make money from people's hate? I’m FULLY aware that the narrative around this situation has been changed and that inaccurate claims are now being shared about me. I do not condone hate or harassment — especially not from disabled people towards other disabled people. While the core point being raised is valid, the way this situation has been handled is not. When disabled advocates attack other disabled advocates for attempting to promote and uplift them—particularly when platform limitations (such as Facebook not allowing reshares) are the cause—this should never be turned into false or hateful narratives. Creating or amplifying misinformation to drive engagement, attention, or financial gain at the expense of another disabled person is not advocacy. Encouraging peo...
