Organise and PIP:

Organise and PIP: I've just voted for Organise to continue its fight to protect PIP and challenge politicians who continue to misunderstand what it actually does. PIP is not an out-of-work benefit. It helps disabled people stay independent, access support, remain in employment, volunteer within their communities, attend appointments, manage daily living, and make choices about what works for them. For many of us, PIP is the difference between isolation and participation. It provides the flexibility to meet individual needs because disability is not one-size-fits-all. I saw my young person for the last time before Christmas today, and it was such a lovely way to wrap up the year. We went out for a coffee, exchanged presents, and had a really good catch-up. They’re doing so well, and I honestly couldn’t be prouder of them. Moments like this are exactly why I love what I do. It’s a real privilege to be part of someone’s journey — even in small, everyday ways. This kind of work can be challenging at times, but it’s also deeply rewarding, and more people should definitely consider it. It's meaningful work and I'm so happy to have this opportunity. We were also helped today by a wonderful lady called Angela at the food place, and we were so grateful for her kindness. It was lovely catching up and hearing all about my young person’s adventures — those moments mean so much. With Christmas Eve tomorrow, I’m feeling full of festive cheer, gratitude, and pride. Wishing everyone a truly wonderful Christmas. Sarah Wingfield ❤️ Alt text: Smiling person t...

I’ve Booked My Driving Test! The Road to Freedom is in Sight! It’s finally happening — after all the lessons, the nerves, the little victories, and the big wobbles, I’m officially one step closer to passing my driving test . Today, I booked my practical test for November! When I pressed that “confirm” button, my heart did a little backflip. This is it — the countdown has started. In just a few months, I could be holding that pass certificate in my hands, with the open road calling my name. I have to give a huge shout-out to my amazing instructor, Andy. His patience, calm energy, and encouragement have been such a massive part of this journey. No question is too silly, no mistake too big — he always finds a way to help me understand and improve. And honestly, without the Motability Scheme , this dream wouldn’t even be possible. It’s given me the opportunity to learn and have a car that meets my needs, in an automatic that feels safe, comfortable, and mine. For so many disabled drivers, ...
