I did not become involved casually. I paid to step in and support the group at a time when the girls were experiencing abuse and the situation required stabilising. Alongside that financial investment, I contributed my time, energy, and professional experience to support, promote, and help develop the brand in a constructive way. This included behind-the-scenes work such as promotion, interviews, written content, and actively working to reduce the level of external negativity the group was receiving.   Something I’ve learned from both sides of the system — as a disabled person and as a carer — is that compassion isn’t guaranteed. Genuine carers exist, and they are incredible people. But they are also rare, and pretending otherwise doesn’t help anyone. When we talk about abuse, neglect, or systemic failures in care, healthcare, or support services, people often react defensively instead of listening. But here’s the truth: We cannot change what we refuse to acknowledge. Calling out harm isn’t “negative”. It’s accountability. It’s advocacy. And it’s the first step toward building systems where compassion is the norm, not the exception. In a world filled with abusers, I would rather whistleblow and safeguard than stay silent and allow harm to continue. You’re not always believed. You’re not always listened to. Often, people only understand once it happens to them too. That’s why abusers hide behind good deeds, reputations, and performative “helping.” Genuine, authentic people take accountability. They correct their behaviour. Apologies come with changed actions. Abusers don’t do that. Instead, they surround themselves with people shouting about the “amazing work” they do — not to protect others, but to silence victims. Some of those people don’t even realise they’re enabling abuse. They think they’re defending someone they admire. On 25 November 2024, a police officer attended my address and sought to issue a Community Protection Notice (CPN) based on allegations relating to my online activity.
