 They call them “compliance officers” — the ones who investigate UC claimants. But with benefits comes no privacy, no autonomy. You can follow every rule, abide by every law, and still find yourself targeted because someone made you their hobby… someone decided to stir trouble just to watch the fallout. I am compliant. And yet here I am, facing an invasive UC interrogation anyway. Oh well. A waste of time for both of us, I suppose. People still think benefits are “easy.” They think disability support is some kind of luxury. They have no idea that the system is built on suspicion and ableism, not compassion. I hate this system. And I’ll keep calling it out — loudly.  To whomever has reported me to UC I'm not receiving any income as of yet and can provide the evidence to prove it. I'm an unpaid independent disability advocate, unpaid independent visitor, unpaid charity and community worker and I am seeking paid employment and trying to set up a sole tradership. I don't lie. I'm transparent af. I keep things right and I help people. Maybe you should start doing the same. I can also do a SAR request and take you to court under the malicious communications act. But recent events have left me confused, disheartened, and needing to share what’s happened—not for attention or conflict, but because I believe in honesty, fairness, and the importance of being heard. As a disabled advocate and resident of County Durham, I recently raised a formal complaint about the conduct of a sitting councillor. This wasn’t something I did lightly. The behaviour I flagged involved public misinformation, a misuse of influence, and actions that had already harmed me and others in the community—especially those of us who are vulnerable or marginalised. I submitted my complaint with context, evidence, and a respectful request for anonymity due to past targeting. Despite this, I was told the complaint is unlikely to proceed, that my name cannot be protected, and that I may wish to withdraw it. What I’m struggling to understand is this: How is it ...
