Just a heartbroken statement from an advocate:

Just a heartbroken statement from an advocate: People need to analyse situations more carefully and with due diligence. As disappointed as I am, I am absolutely not surprised. I will always defend myself, and I will always defend others when I believe they are being treated unfairly. I will also continue to speak out against abuse, harassment, and harmful behaviour whenever I encounter it. What I will not do is spend my life repeatedly proving decades of actions, advocacy, and work to people who have already decided who they think I am after a few moments, a screenshot, or a rumour. One thing people often misunderstand about me is that I do not revisit closed doors. When a decision has been made, I accept it and move forward. Ironically, that is the complete opposite of the situation I currently find myself dealing with. At times, I feel as though I am drowning beneath assumptions, accusations, and narratives that bear little resemblance to reality. I wish more people took the time to ...

Psst! Yes.. you:

Psst! Yes.. you! 🫵🏻 ~You don’t have to have it all figured out.~ Read that again. Because somewhere along the way, we were sold this idea that by a certain age we should be healed, stable, successful, confident… complete. And if we’re not? We’re failing. But that’s not truth — that’s pressure. Real life looks like starting over. Like learning things the hard way. Like holding it together one day and falling apart the next. Like growing through things you never should’ve had to survive in the first place. You’re not behind. You’re not broken. You’re becoming — in real time. Keep going. Even when it’s messy. Keep learning. Even when it hurts. Keep believing. Even when it’s quiet. That’s the real win. 💗 Now I’m curious… What’s ONE life lesson you’d tell your younger self? Think on that because it could be the key to your next steps! What I’m Learning About Boundaries (And The Times I Still Slip):

Image
What I’m Learning About Boundaries (And The Times I Still Slip) Boundaries are one of those things that sound simple when you say them out loud, but living them is something else entirely. I’m learning that maintaining boundaries isn’t about getting it right every time, it’s about catching yourself when you don’t. Because I do slip. I still get roped into replies, I still find myself trying to explain, trying to get people to understand, trying to bring facts into conversations that were never about facts in the first place. And that’s where I have to pause and check myself, because the reality is you can’t reason with the unreasonable. Some people are committed to misunderstanding you, committed to twisting things, committed to getting a reaction, and no amount of calm explanation is going to change that. That’s been one of the hardest lessons for me, because I care. I care about truth, I care about fairness, I care about people seeing what actually happened, and that part of me will ...

Thirty-Eight:

Image
Thirty-eight years on this earth and some days I still feel like I’m standing in the rubble of battles I never asked to fight. Healing from trauma isn’t linear. It isn’t aesthetic. It isn’t a cute quote on a pastel background. It’s messy and inconvenient and sometimes it creeps up on you years later and whispers, “You’re not done yet.” And when it comes to my son’s cancer — and all that happened around us when he was diagnosed — I don’t think a mother ever just “gets over” watching her child fight for their life while simultaneously navigating systemic failures, corruption, and ableism that caused real, tangible harm. That kind of trauma doesn’t sit neatly in the past. It rewires you. It embeds itself in your nervous system. It lives in your bones. Some days I’m strong and composed and overflowing with gratitude. Other days it hits me sideways and I realise I’m still carrying pieces of it all — not just the illness, but the environment we were forced to survive within. Then the guilt ...

Step away from socials this winter:

Image
As an advocate, watching what’s happening online right now — the lashing out, the ableism, the infighting — I genuinely recommend people take huge breaks from social media this winter. Misunderstanding someone and choosing to insult them isn’t helping anyone. Being Disabled and expecting other differently-disabled people to suffer is never the answer. Trying to dictate who “deserves” support or manipulating conversations around benefits is abusive, full stop. If you’re feeling overwhelmed or acting out of spite, please step back. Others don’t need your negativity at a time when everything is already amplified and difficult. And yes — that goes for the “nasty sorts” too. Take a break before you pour your BS onto people who are already struggling. Suicidal ideation is high this time of year. People deserve support and compassion — not lectures, judgement, or power-tripping. Abuse and hate have never solved anything, so ask yourself why you think you’re being “superior” while behaving in ...
