Reform UK’s welfare policy: the problems in plain English:

Reform UK’s welfare policy: the problems in plain English: https://www.reformparty.uk/making-welfare-work-document.pdf Reform says its new welfare plan will make the system fairer and help people into work. But when you look closely at the proposals, disabled people have very good reason to be concerned. Reform wants to save around £50 billion a year across welfare, while its disability reforms would remove or restrict substantial amounts of disability-related support. The party says people with “severe” disabilities would be protected, but it also proposes gradually removing unconditional cash support from people it categorises as having “mild” conditions and treating some mental-health and neurodevelopmental claims differently.  Here are the main problems: It creates a hierarchy of “deserving” disabled people. Reform repeatedly distinguishes the “severely disabled” from people with supposedly “mild” or even “trivial” conditions. But disability is not that simple. Someone can have...

Unhinged, Raw & Unapologetic Release:

Image
My album Unhinged, Raw & Unapologetic is now available across streaming platforms. 💖🎧 It brings together a lot of my work from 2021 onwards and, a track from 2007, but more than anything, it reminds me that creativity can’t be stopped — and emotions have to go somewhere. This album has a lot of moods living inside it. There’s the feeling of being lost and alone in tracks like M.I.A and Broken Coding; the passion and optimism of Never Give Up and Never Have I Ever; and then the creepy, chaotic, clowning side with Stitched Open, Zombie Undead and GFA Faygo. 🤡🧟‍♀️🖤 It also includes Belonging — a track I wrote at just 16 years old in 2003, before recording it in Holland at 19. More than two decades later, that piece of my younger self has finally found its place on this album. 🖤🎸 Grunge and indie aren’t dead yet. The album also includes satirical, explicit tracks that play with and comment on just how saturated sexuality can be within music. It’s messy. Emotional. Funny. Dark. H...

Art Therapy:

Art therapy 🙏🏻💗 When you’re at your lowest, sometimes creating gives all those feelings somewhere else to go. I drew this little digital cartoon girl, then disappeared into an editing app and built a whole collage around her — colour, comfort, silliness, sweetness and tiny reminders of the things I need to hear myself sometimes. “This page belongs to my happy thoughts.” 🌈🍓🎀 Creating doesn’t magically make everything okay, but sometimes it gives your mind a softer place to land for a while. And today, that was enough. 💕 Sarah Wingfield ❤️  Kawaii Doll Decora • K•Doll #ArtTherapy #DigitalArt #DigitalArtist #KawaiiArt #KawaiiDollDecora #KDoll #CollageArt #DigitalCollage #CreativeTherapy #MentalHealthArt #ArtForMentalHealth #CreateToHeal #HealingThroughArt #NeurodivergentArtist #KawaiiAesthetic #DecoraStyle #CuteArt #CreativeExpression #HappyThoughts #YouAreWorthy Alt text: A colourful kawaii-style digital collage centred around an original cartoon girl with bright green skin, l...

PIP and Universal Credit reforms risk destroying disabled people’s independence and routes into work:

Image
PIP and Universal Credit reforms risk destroying disabled people’s independence and routes into work: I’ve written to Andy Burnham about the impact PIP and Universal Credit reforms could have on disabled people who are already trying to work and remain independent. For me, further cuts or restrictions wouldn’t push me into employment — they could make me homeless, bankrupt and destroy everything I’ve been building towards becoming self-employed. PIP helps cover the extra costs of disability and supports independence. Councils, the NHS and charities simply cannot absorb the consequences if that support is removed. Disabled people need meaningful consultation, proper impact assessments and safeguards against poverty, debt and homelessness. You cannot claim to support disabled people into work while taking away the very support that makes work and independence possible. #SystemicAbleism #DisabilityRights #DisabilitySupport #PIP #UniversalCredit #StrongerTogether My email: PIP and Universa...

Why Pride is still needed:

Why Pride is still needed: Pride is still needed because legal equality does not automatically mean lived equality. LGBTQ+ people can still experience bullying, harassment, discrimination, rejection from family, hate crime and hostility simply for being who they are. Trans people in particular are currently at the centre of intense public and political debate, and young LGBTQ+ people can grow up hearing that their identity is something shameful, controversial or unacceptable. Pride is therefore about more than celebration. It is about visibility, community, remembrance and the freedom to exist without fear. It remembers people who fought for rights that many now take for granted, honours those who suffered or died because of prejudice, and gives isolated people a chance to see that they are not alone. Supporting Pride also doesn't require everyone to have identical beliefs about every issue involving sex, gender, sexuality or policy. People can disagree respectfully on difficult qu...

My Creepy Cafe Podcast:

Image
My Creepy Cafe Announcement: It is with a heavy heart that I’ve made the decision to step away from My Creepy Café Show and my involvement with the podcast and Peter King going forward. I’m grateful for the time, creativity and conversations that have gone into the project, and I genuinely wish everyone involved the very best with whatever direction they choose to take it. For me, this decision comes down to professional differences in how projects are developed, organised and brought forward publicly. I believe strongly in having a clear structure, completed groundwork and realistic plans in place before promoting, casting or committing people to a project. At this stage, I feel my own professional approach and priorities are moving in a different direction. I’m also focusing more of my time and energy on my own writing, film, magazine and creative commitments, so stepping away feels like the right and responsible decision. There is no ill will from me, and I hope the project continue...

A Heartfelt Thank You for the Kindness ❤️:

Image
A Heartfelt Thank You for the Kindness ❤️ It’s always so lovely when people take the time to reach out to me privately with kindness, gratitude, encouragement or support. ❤️ Over the past month especially, I’ve received so many genuinely thoughtful, supportive and positive messages that I felt I needed to stop for a moment and acknowledge them all. Some people have reached out simply to check in on me or send a few kind words. Others have messaged to thank me for helping them personally, for speaking up about something that mattered to them, for sharing information that helped them, or simply for continuing to do the work that I do. Those messages mean an incredible amount to me. When somebody tells me that I’ve helped them, supported them, encouraged them, given them useful information, made them feel heard, or made some kind of positive difference in their life, I never take that lightly. The same goes for the people who have reached out just to say, “thank you for what you do.” Whet...

I Care Because I Know What It Means to Need Support

Image
I Care Because I Know What It Means to Need Support: I Care Because I Know What It Means to Need Support I restarted blogging while I was pregnant, but my instinct to advocate for others started long before that. For most of my life, I have spoken up when something felt unfair, harmful or inaccessible. I have raised awareness of disability, challenged barriers, supported people through difficult situations and tried to use my experiences to create something positive. This collage holds so many chapters of my life. It shows pregnancy and motherhood. It shows disability, mobility aids and moments when simply getting through the day required determination. It shows hospital visits and the years in which I supported my son through Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. It also shows campaigning, protest, awareness work and the gradual development of the advocate I am today. Behind every photograph is a story. Some are filled with love and joy. Others represent fear, exhaustion, pain and circumstan...

High Force Waterfall — 11th July 2026, 14:20hrs

High Force Waterfall — 11th July 2026, 14:20hrs. I am now releasing the footage from my visit to High Force Waterfall on 11th July 2026. The private video link sent directly to High Force has already been viewed 12 times, so they have had ample opportunity to see and consider the footage for themselves. I raised my concerns because what happened affected me in real life as a disabled visitor. I expected those concerns to be taken seriously, investigated fairly and handled with compassion. Instead, I was left feeling as though my account was being questioned and my lived experience dismissed. Statements were apparently relied upon to suggest that my description of events was inaccurate, yet when I asked to see appropriately redacted copies of those statements, I received no meaningful response. Since challenging the way my complaint was handled, I have seemingly been ghosted. That silence matters. Disabled people are already accused far too often of exaggerating, inventing or misreprese...

Behind the scenes: K•Doll and Crowns:

Image
K•Doll's Ex Ex (Execute the Fool) music track is a rebellion against manipulation and false power. EX EX (EXECUTE THE FOOL): TAKE BACK THE CROWN K•Doll’s “Ex Ex (Execute the Fool)” is more than a music track—it is a rebellion against manipulation, false authority and the people who mistake control for power. The crown represents status, dominance and the illusion of superiority. Taking it is not about becoming the villain. It is about exposing the fool who never deserved the throne. It symbolises reclaiming your strength. Breaking the illusion. Refusing to shrink. Refusing to remain beneath someone who built their power by manipulating, intimidating or diminishing others. Sometimes, taking back your life means removing the crown from the person who convinced you that they were untouchable. It means recognising that their power only existed while you believed in it. The moment you stop bowing, their kingdom falls. “Ex Ex” channels that turning point—the moment pain becomes power, co...

AFK:

AFK: Just a little heads-up to my friends ❤️ I’m going to be away from Facebook until Tuesday afternoon / Wednesday. 🙏🏻✨ Right now, I need to focus on my personal growth and the important goals ahead of me. I can’t afford any negative distractions. Other people can do whatever they choose, but they cannot steal my happiness, my focus or my determination. Until the targeting dies down and people eventually lose interest, I’m taking a few days to protect my peace, clear my head and smash some personal targets. I don’t want to let myself or anyone else down. What’s coming up is extremely important to me, and I have sacrificed far too much and worked far too hard to become distracted when I need my head fully in the game. Thank you for understanding. I’ll be back after Tuesday and ready to refocus on the magazine. ❤️ Sarah Wingfield ❤️  KawaiiDollDecora.uk #wishmeluck #hardwork #sacrifice #driving #disabled #independence #goals  Alt text: Graphic for the Learn to Drive Hubb app...

Celebrating how far I've come:

Image
Celebrating how far I've come: I’ve come such a long way. I know success is defined differently depending on who you ask, but since rebuilding my mobility and getting out of my wheelchair, I’ve had so many achievements to celebrate. ❤️ I’ve been featured in publications and media, worked as an actor, producer and filmmaker, appeared in movies and independent film projects, written blogs and books, created and released music, designed artwork and products, modelled, performed, spoken publicly and continued developing my own creative projects. Alongside that, I’ve spent years advocating for disabled people, survivors and vulnerable members of our communities. I’ve supported individuals through difficult situations, completed safeguarding and advocacy training, volunteered with charities and community organisations, founded support spaces, helped manage large online communities, created Aycliffe Alternative Magazine and used my platforms to raise awareness, celebrate local talent and ...
