This Life Chose Me: Filmmaking, Acting and the Reality Behind the Glamour

Image
This Life Chose Me: Filmmaking, Acting and the Reality Behind the Glamour Something happened recently within one of my filmmaking circles that made me want to speak on something a little bigger than one bit of drama. Scare actors are not movie actors. That doesn’t mean scare acting isn’t valid, because it absolutely is. It takes confidence, timing, physicality, presence, improvisation and the ability to create an immediate reaction. But screen acting is a different discipline. Playing an actual character with history, flaws, emotions, relationships, motivations and a completely different personality is not as easy as good actors make it look. And good actors really do make it look easy. It isn’t. You can be filming one emotional scene in the morning, something completely different later, then return to that first emotional state from another angle and have to match the same performance all over again. Some scare actors can absolutely cross over and be brilliant screen actors too, but n...

Daggers Inn - Available to watch now:

Daggers Inn - Available to watch now: 9/10 – A Fantastic Showcase of Independent British Filmmaking -Raya Films. Daggers Inn is an atmospheric mystery that combines suspense, dark humour and supernatural intrigue in a way that feels distinctly British. The rural setting creates a constant sense of mystery, while the cinematography makes excellent use of the beautiful locations. Anna Danvers delivers a strong lead performance as Donna Revan, supported by a talented cast who bring the film's intriguing world to life. The story unfolds at a steady pace, gradually revealing its secrets while maintaining an engaging atmosphere throughout. One of the things I admire most is the passion behind the project and just how beautifully it has been shot. Every frame feels like a piece of art. Independent filmmaking takes enormous commitment, creativity and determination, and Daggers Inn is a wonderful example of what can be achieved by people who genuinely believe in the stories they want to tel...

The Briefcase:

Image
The Briefcase: Every person working on a script should have a lockable briefcase! 🎬🕵🏻‍♀️ Not only does it make you feel like you're some kind of secret agent (which I'm absolutely embracing 😂), but it's also an amazing way to keep your work organised and take it wherever you go. Now I just need a few power suits to complete the look! 😆 Joking aside, this has been perfect for the movie script breakdown I'm currently working on. Everything has its place, and because it expands, there's plenty of room to add more documents as the project grows. As an autistic person, staying organised really helps me. Having everything together means I can easily pick up where I left off without feeling overwhelmed, which makes such a difference when working on larger creative projects. A huge thank you to my Dad for thinking of me and giving me this brilliant briefcase. 🥹❤️ I'm genuinely so grateful. It's going to take a little while to finish the script breakdown, but I...

Nature and Slowing Down:

Image
Nature and Slowing Down: Since my main account has been down, I've found myself spending far more time in the real world instead of constantly being online sharing posts and supporting everyone else. Ironically, it's reminded me how important it is to support myself too. I've been slowing down, taking time to rest, getting outdoors, spending quality time with Peter, and appreciating the simple things again. ❤️ We recently had a picnic at a beautiful nature reserve before heading to the cinema to watch Scary Movie 6, and honestly... it was brilliant. 😂🍿 It's made me realise that no matter how many people you help, there will always be a small number who choose negativity. You can't control that, but you can control where you invest your time and energy. I'm genuinely thinking about deactivating my main account and slowing everything down for a while. Life is happening outside of social media too, and I don't want to miss it. For the first time in a long tim...

Hard work leads to results:

Image
Hard work leads to results: People only see the results of your hard work… they don’t see the sacrifices, the heartache, the late nights, the studying, the exhaustion it takes to get there. Someone said I’m successful - and that’s beautiful in its own way. Because in terms of love, my spirit tribe, connection, support, and friendships… yes, I am successful. 🤍 But business-wise? I’m not there yet, and that’s okay. 🫶🏻 What people are starting to see now is just the beginning of my journey. I still have mountains to climb. To me, success means living comfortably and creating real, positive change, helping others while I rise. I’ve got a long way to go… but I’m going. 💅🏻✨ And to those who uplift me, see me, and believe in me, from my heart, Thank you. Truly. I’m here, and I’m doing this… because you believed in me when I didn’t. Love to you all 🤍 Let's keep going?! ❤️ Sarah Wingfield  KawaiiDollDecora.uk #hardwork #sacrifices #advocacy #success #connection #community #support #mo...

Vlog update:

Vlog update ❣️ ( Correction *in MARCH ahaha 😂 ) I’ve just shared a new vlog where I talk about everything I’ve been working on lately — from upcoming projects and creative ideas to the magazines and community initiatives I’m involved in. There’s a lot happening behind the scenes at the moment, including future editions of Aycliffe Alternative Magazine, creative work through Kawaii Doll Decora, music with K•Doll, and the wider community projects I’m passionate about supporting. I thought it might be nice to put it all in one place so people can see what’s coming next and how these projects all connect to the bigger goal of building more inclusive, creative community spaces. Celebrating a Milestone:

Image
Celebrating a milestone today. 🎬✨ It’s been over a year since I joined IMDb and started being involved in film projects, and what a journey it has been so far. From stepping into creative spaces, connecting with talented people, and exploring opportunities in the film world — it’s been exciting, surreal, and incredibly rewarding. As a disabled creator and advocate, stepping into industries like film can sometimes feel intimidating, but creativity has always been one of the ways I build community, tell stories, and challenge barriers. Here’s to more projects, more creativity, and more representation in the arts. The journey is only just beginning. City Rush 4 Wins October Award:

Image
City Rush 4 Wins October Award for “Most Technically Excellent” at Athens International Monthly Art Film Festival 2025 I’m proud to share that City Rush 4 has received the October Award for “Most Technically Excellent” at the Athens International Monthly Art Film Festival 2025. This award recognises the technical craft behind the film — the precision, planning, and execution that go into making everything work cohesively on screen. It’s a category that highlights the often unseen work: cinematography, editing, sound, pacing, and the many technical decisions that shape the final result. This recognition belongs to the entire team. Film is never the work of one person, and City Rush 4 was a genuine collaborative effort. Every member of the cast and crew contributed skill, time, and professionalism, and this award reflects that collective dedication. Creating film is rarely easy. It requires adaptability, long hours, problem-solving, and commitment, often under pressure. To have that work...

A Thank You as the Year Closes:

Image
A Thank You as the Year Closes ❤️ As we celebrate Christmas and gently close the door on 2025, I want to take a moment to say a huge, heartfelt thank you to my spirit tribe, my community, and my colleagues. This year has been one of growth, challenge, and deep connection. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone I’ve worked alongside, to those who trusted me and allowed me the opportunity to support them, and to all the people I’ve met along the way through my advocacy and charity work. I also want to say a special thank you to those in the film and movie industry who welcomed me in and shared some truly great adventures with me this year. The creativity, collaboration, and moments behind the scenes have been a real joy and a reminder of why storytelling matters. Every conversation, shared moment, and act of kindness has mattered more than you probably realise. None of this work exists in isolation — it’s built through community, compassion, and mutual respect. Thank you for walking parts o...

Blast from the past:

Image
I can’t believe how far I’ve come since my modelling days — a real blast from the past. Looking at old photos feels like opening a time capsule. Different body. Different mindset. Same spark — just packaged in a younger, less world-worn version of me. And before anyone panics (hi, internet), yes — I’ve covered myself with fluffy hearts… even though my hands were doing the job just fine anyway. Ahaha. That girl in the photo grew into the squishy, quirky bish you know today 😘 Whether you love me, love to hate me, or quietly scroll while forming opinions, here I am — still standing, still evolving, still very much myself 😆🔥 If I could go back and talk to her, I’d tell her something simple but powerful: life really is what you make it. I’d also tell her to say yes to that zombie film back in 2006. No overthinking. No fear. Just fun. Because some regrets aren’t about failure — they’re about not giving yourself permission to try. Our bodies are not static. They tell the story of our lives...

Veil of Silence movie project:

Image
A movie that is being created from a book by author Mike Davies was published in a magazine recently and I can't wait to be a part of this movie project! IMDb.me/SarahWingfield   I'm reposting his post here: --- @highlight Everyone Active Feeling incredibly grateful today. 🙏 The Veil of Silence has built such a huge following — I honestly never imagined the impact it would have. Thank you all so much for the continued support, messages, and excitement surrounding the film. This journey means even more to me after everything I’ve been through. A local magazine recently featured my story — about the accident that changed my life, and how I’ve poured everything into writing and filmmaking ever since. They also gave The Veil of Silence a great spotlight, which is beyond humbling. To everyone who’s believed in me, followed the project, or simply taken the time to reach out — thank you from the bottom of my heart. This is just the beginning. 🎬🖤 #TheVeilOfSilence #Grateful #Indepen...
