Celebrating how far I've come:

Image
Celebrating how far I've come: I’ve come such a long way. I know success is defined differently depending on who you ask, but since rebuilding my mobility and getting out of my wheelchair, I’ve had so many achievements to celebrate. ❤️ I’ve been featured in publications and media, worked as an actor, producer and filmmaker, appeared in movies and independent film projects, written blogs and books, created and released music, designed artwork and products, modelled, performed, spoken publicly and continued developing my own creative projects. Alongside that, I’ve spent years advocating for disabled people, survivors and vulnerable members of our communities. I’ve supported individuals through difficult situations, completed safeguarding and advocacy training, volunteered with charities and community organisations, founded support spaces, helped manage large online communities, created Aycliffe Alternative Magazine and used my platforms to raise awareness, celebrate local talent and ...

Becoming Who I Dreamed Of:

Image
Becoming Who I Dreamed Of: I just wanted to take a moment to be present and truly appreciate how far I’ve come. There was a time I was bedbound and housebound, fighting every single day just to get through life — and if you had told me five years ago that I’d be stepping onto a movie set next month, she would have laughed in disbelief. Yet here we are. I work epically hard across everything I do, and because I’m always focused on future goals and building the next project, I don’t always stop to appreciate what I’ve already achieved. But today, I am. I’ve built incredible connections across the music industry, film industry, Juggalo fam communities, charities, advocacy groups, and community organisations. Behind the scenes, we’re still pushing forward with mental health awareness, supporting Let’s Talk North East CIC, setting up community spaces and continuing to create meaningful change. Creativity has honestly kept me alive. I love creating, building, connecting and helping people. A...

Camera and interview-ready:

Image
Camera and interview-ready 🎬✨ Today I’m filming a video interview about a course I completed and what it means to me personally and professionally. Excited to share more about growth, lived experience, and using knowledge to create positive change. Sometimes the biggest achievements aren’t loud — they’re the steps you take to keep building yourself. 💖 Sarah Wingfield Actress | Author | Advocate #InterviewDay #Filming #PersonalGrowth #DisabilityAdvocate #EducationJourney #WomenInMedia #NorthEastCreative #Advocacy #Confidence #PositiveChange Alt text: A woman with long pastel pink hair sits on a dark sofa, wearing glasses and a white dress with black flamingo prints. She has pink nails, colourful bracelets, and a Hello Kitty necklace. She looks at the camera with a calm expression while holding her hair. In the top corner is pink neon-style text reading “Sarah Wingfield – Actress | Author | Advocate.”

Aycliffe Alternative Magazine - April:

Image
A quick flick through April’s Aycliffe Alternative Magazine ❤️ Another issue brought together with heart, community spirit, and a genuine passion for uplifting local voices. Every page reflects the creativity, resilience, and talent that exists right here — often overlooked, but never lacking. This magazine has always been about more than just content. It’s about people. It’s about giving space to stories that deserve to be seen, heard, and valued. From local creatives to community initiatives, each feature is a reminder that there is so much happening when we choose to look a little closer. If you’ve supported, contributed, or simply taken the time to read — thank you. It all matters more than you know. And if you haven’t had a look yet… this is your sign ✨ https://kawaiidolldecora.uk/aycliffe-alternative Sarah Wingfield  Aycliffe Alternative Magazine  #AycliffeAlternative #CommunityVoices #SupportLocal #StrongerTogether #CreativeCommunity

Vlog update:

Image
Vlog update ❣️ ( Correction *in MARCH ahaha 😂 ) I’ve just shared a new vlog where I talk about everything I’ve been working on lately — from upcoming projects and creative ideas to the magazines and community initiatives I’m involved in. There’s a lot happening behind the scenes at the moment, including future editions of Aycliffe Alternative Magazine, creative work through Kawaii Doll Decora, music with K•Doll, and the wider community projects I’m passionate about supporting. I thought it might be nice to put it all in one place so people can see what’s coming next and how these projects all connect to the bigger goal of building more inclusive, creative community spaces. If you’d like to follow the journey or get involved in future editions, feel free to have a read. 💫 https://kawaiidolldecora.uk/aycliffe-alternative — Sarah Wingfield Independent Disability Advocate  KawaiiDollDecora.uk Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/6scx6w4IeXQXG4kKsYCbND?si=H-yuzZcBRyuyYQtLAU7LzA Ba...

Always speak UP against abuse:

Image
In a world filled with abusers, I would rather whistleblow and safeguard than stay silent and allow harm to continue. You’re not always believed. You’re not always listened to. Often, people only understand once it happens to them too. That’s why abusers hide behind good deeds, reputations, and performative “helping.” Genuine, authentic people take accountability. They correct their behaviour. Apologies come with changed actions. Abusers don’t do that. Instead, they surround themselves with people shouting about the “amazing work” they do — not to protect others, but to silence victims. Some of those people don’t even realise they’re enabling abuse. They think they’re defending someone they admire. But if someone were truly good, there wouldn’t be victims trying to hold them to account. Period. When this behaviour exists inside organisations, support groups, or positions of power, they are not there to help people — they are there to help themselves. Abuse is hidden behind an army. Pow...

A Thank You as the Year Closes:

Image
A Thank You as the Year Closes ❤️ As we celebrate Christmas and gently close the door on 2025, I want to take a moment to say a huge, heartfelt thank you to my spirit tribe, my community, and my colleagues. This year has been one of growth, challenge, and deep connection. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone I’ve worked alongside, to those who trusted me and allowed me the opportunity to support them, and to all the people I’ve met along the way through my advocacy and charity work. I also want to say a special thank you to those in the film and movie industry who welcomed me in and shared some truly great adventures with me this year. The creativity, collaboration, and moments behind the scenes have been a real joy and a reminder of why storytelling matters. Every conversation, shared moment, and act of kindness has mattered more than you probably realise. None of this work exists in isolation — it’s built through community, compassion, and mutual respect. Thank you for walking parts o...

Finding Calm Through Pages:

Image
Finding Calm Through Pages: My New Tool for Healing and Hope: By Sarah Wingfield I recently discovered that Mind Charity has teamed up with Paperchase, and some of their beautiful and thoughtfully designed stationery is now available in selected Tesco stores. It might just be a notebook to some, but for me, it’s become something much more. I'm currently using one of these books to help me process both the good and bad days — to gently unpick the threads of harm, to understand the weight I carry, and to find my way back to myself after pain. Writing has always been one of my ways to cope, reflect, and recover, especially as someone who is disabled and neurodivergent. But this notebook has added a little spark — a reminder that support and beauty can coexist. That healing doesn’t always have to be loud. Sometimes, it’s found quietly in ink, intention, and a blank page. I'm also using it to set new goals for advocacy, to reignite my drive for positive change, and to hold space for...

SPD awareness...

...On a positive note I am attempting to create a fully clothed and fun themed Calendar to raise much needed awareness on SPD. SPD sufferers are to be the models, standing proud with their crutches, or sat brave in their wheelchairs, to which I am happy to model with them in my wheelchair too, more info can be found on our facebook support group which the link is available in the links section at the top of this blog. My business is closed but I am still volunteering under my business name as I will be organising the calendar and my business name has always been my project alias, hobby name and has been used for all/any projects I have done for the last 9 years, when I first started under the name. We are looking to support a well known charity that affects most people and to reach an audience who will probably not know much if anything about SPD. We are currently thinking of supporting Cancer Research, as I lost a loved one through Cancer and many people will have too, or atl...
