🎉💜 17 YEARS OF SUPPORT PELVIC DYSFUNCTION — PGP / SPD! 💜🎉 Today marks 17 years of Support Pelvic Dysfunction, a community I founded to create a space where people affected by Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP) / Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD) could find understanding, information, reassurance and support. Over the years, this community has become so much more than a page or a group. It has become a place where people can share their experiences, ask questions without judgement, support one another through difficult days and remind each other that living with pelvic dysfunction can feel isolating, but you do not have to face it alone. Love, Laughter & Roadside Recovery: Well… tonight definitely didn’t go quite how we planned 😂🌧️ But somehow, it still turned into one of those strange little evenings you know you’ll remember. A huge thank you to the two lovely women in the chippy who kindly let me use their toilet — such a small act of kindness, but it really meant a lot to me. 💗 So there we were, sat in the car waiting for recovery, listening to the rain, eating chips and curry and just making the best of it. Not exactly the date night we imagined, but honestly… not a bad one either. 😂🍟 We were together, we laughed, we had a bizarre little adventure, and that’s what matters most. Sometimes the unexpected moments end up being the ones that stick with you. Review — The Upside Down, Project Escape Middlesbrough ⭐ 7/10 Today we visited The Upside Down escape room at Project Escape in Middlesbrough and had such a fun time! ☺️🖤 The challenge gives you 60 minutes to escape the Upside Down, working your way through a series of puzzles, clues and surprises. The room itself is really well thought out and planned, and once you're inside you can communicate with the team using a radio if you need help or guidance. Before the challenge starts, the staff explain everything very thoroughly, which I really appreciated. They were also incredibly friendly, welcoming and accommodating throughout our visit. ✨ The main downside for me was accessibility. I couldn't see a lift and there are three flights of stairs to reach the escape room, so unfortunately it wouldn't be accessible for everyone with mobility difficulties. My Origin Story: Everything I Did Back Then Was Building the Life I Have Now ❤️ It even remembers Magnolia TV from 2005-2007— the media, film and production company I was trying to start before I moved into my photography business! 😂 It’s crazy looking back because there were years when life felt pointless and all the work I’d done felt like it hadn’t amounted to anything. PIP and Universal Credit reforms risk destroying disabled people’s independence and routes into work: I’ve written to Andy Burnham about the impact PIP and Universal Credit reforms could have on disabled people who are already trying to work and remain independent. For me, further cuts or restrictions wouldn’t push me into employment — they could make me homeless, bankrupt and destroy everything I’ve been building towards becoming self-employed. PIP helps cover the extra costs of disability and supports independence. Councils, the NHS and charities simply cannot absorb the consequences if that support is removed. Disabled people need meaningful consultation, proper impact assessments and safeguards against poverty, debt and homelessness. Why Pride is still needed: Pride is still needed because legal equality does not automatically mean lived equality. LGBTQ+ people can still experience bullying, harassment, discrimination, rejection from family, hate crime and hostility simply for being who they are. Trans people in particular are currently at the centre of intense public and political debate, and young LGBTQ+ people can grow up hearing that their identity is something shameful, controversial or unacceptable. Pride is therefore about more than celebration. It is about visibility, community, remembrance and the freedom to exist without fear. It remembers people who fought for rights that many now take for granted, honours those who suffered or died because of prejudice, and gives isolated people a chance to see that they are not alone. My Creepy Cafe Announcement: It is with a heavy heart that I’ve made the decision to step away from My Creepy Café Show and my involvement with the podcast and Peter King going forward. I’m grateful for the time, creativity and conversations that have gone into the project, and I genuinely wish everyone involved the very best with whatever direction they choose to take it. For me, this decision comes down to professional differences in how projects are developed, organised and brought forward publicly. I believe strongly in having a clear structure, completed groundwork and realistic plans in place before promoting, casting or committing people to a project. At this stage, I feel my own professional approach and priorities are moving in a different direction. I’m also focusing more of my time and energy on my own writing, film, magazine and creative commitments, so stepping away feels like the right and responsible decision. For most of my life, I have spoken up when something felt unfair, harmful or inaccessible. I have raised awareness of disability, challenged barriers, supported people through difficult situations and tried to use my experiences to create something positive. My Boundaries Remain in Place: Today, I need to refocus on my driving as I prepare for my practical test. The noise, hostility and abusive distractions are not welcome. I keep reminding myself that storms pass. Until this situation is resolved, I will continue blocking anyone who brings hostility, harassment or personal attacks into my spaces. I am entitled to decide which people, organisations and community projects I promote on my own platforms. Our communities deserve spaces where people feel protected, respected and properly safeguarded. Because I have previously been harmed by organisations that were supposed to support me, I take concerns about conduct, accountability and positions of responsibility extremely seriously. I will not promote an organisation while I have unresolved concerns about the conduct of people affiliated with it, particularly where that conduct has caused me significant distress. Family Time: I had a wonderful day yesterday with my son, Brandon. ❤️ He had such a difficult start in life and has overcome so many obstacles, including leukaemia. The young man he has become inspires me every day. He is intelligent, creative and endlessly fascinating, and I will always be incredibly proud to be his mam. Yesterday, he introduced us to the work of Kane Pixels and explained how he developed his interpretation of The Backrooms. We watched some of Kane’s earlier footage while Brandon enthusiastically talked us through the story, ideas and filmmaking behind it. Brandon loves everything connected to creepypasta, horror and mysterious online worlds, and I love seeing how passionate and knowledgeable he becomes when discussing the things that interest him. Good Food, Beautiful Views and Lovely Service at The New Board Inn: Today, we visited The New Board Inn Pub & Restaurant, and it was exactly the kind of peaceful and enjoyable experience I needed. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly kind, polite and helpful. We were made to feel welcome straight away, and the friendly service added so much to the experience. Nothing felt like too much trouble, and we were treated with genuine warmth throughout our visit. We had a lovely table beside the windows, with beautiful views stretching across the surrounding countryside. There is something especially calming about enjoying good food while looking out over open fields beneath a bright summer sky. The food was beautifully presented, with generous portions and plenty of choice.
