Abusive relationship advice (from lived experience):

Trauma bonding can feel like an addiction — because in many ways, it functions like one. The hot-and-cold cycles of affection and withdrawal create intense emotional highs and lows that condition your nervous system. Over time, that pattern starts to feel familiar, and humans are naturally drawn to what feels familiar, even when it’s harmful.

This is what makes the bond so strong. It isn’t love — it’s emotional conditioning. The manipulation of emotions keeps you chasing relief, reassurance, and connection, while slowly eroding your sense of safety and self.

Understanding this isn’t about blame. It’s about clarity — and clarity is how the spell starts to break.

But the moment you break it, the chains fall away — and you finally see the truth: the version of them you were clinging to was a fantasy, not reality.

You are worthy of real love, safety, and consistency. You cannot find someone who will truly cherish or worship you while you’re tied to someone who runs hot and cold — an onion partner who keeps peeling layers and leaving you in tears.

If you stay, it doesn’t improve. It escalates. The space gets smaller. The suffocation grows. The trap tightens.

Those shackles aren’t permanent.

You can remove them at any time.🫵🏻❤️🎯

You just have to remember who TF you are! 💥

Alt text:

Pastel kawaii-style illustration on a soft pink gradient background. At the top, rounded pink bubble text reads, “What’s the best advice you can give someone with a narcissist or in a DV situation right now?” Below the text stands a cute chibi character with pink hair, wearing a lilac hoodie, pink skirt, and boots, standing confidently with hands on hips. Broken chain links lie on the ground near their feet, symbolising freedom and breaking trauma bonds. Small hearts, sparkles, and stars float around the character. A heart-shaped “Kawaii Doll Decora” logo appears near the top, the “Let’s Talk North East” logo is in the bottom left, and the credit “KawaiiDollDecora.uk” appears at the bottom in pink text. The overall tone is gentle, empowering, and supportive. 💗
