Behind the Pink Pages:

 Behind the Pink Pages ✨

Creating, juggling, and keeping the magic alive

Some days look a little quieter on the outside.

A pen. A pink notebook. A pause.

But behind the scenes?

There’s a lot happening.

Right now I’m deep in production mode for Aycliffe Alternative Magazine — pulling articles together, coordinating contributors, problem-solving, editing, designing, and making sure everything still reflects the values it was built on: community, accessibility, honesty, and inclusion.

At the same time, I’m also working on a feature film project — which has unexpectedly become another full-time mental load. Managing creative direction, logistics, people, boundaries, and decision-making takes a different kind of energy. It’s exciting, but it’s also intense, especially when you care deeply about doing things properly and ethically.

So this moment — pen in hand, scribbling ideas into a very pink Hello Kitty notebook — is less “cute aesthetic” and more survival strategy.

Creativity doesn’t always come wrapped in inspiration. Sometimes it comes wrapped in exhaustion, responsibility, and a long to-do list. Writing things down helps me slow my thoughts, organise the chaos, and remind myself that progress doesn’t have to be loud to be real.

This is how a lot of my work starts:

rough notes

half-formed ideas

timelines and reminders

quiet reassurance written to myself

There’s something grounding about analogue creativity in a digital world. It gives me space to think without notifications, algorithms, or constant urgency pulling at me from every direction.

Kawaii isn’t about pretending things are perfect.

For me, it’s about softness as resistance.

Colour as care.

Joy as something you choose — even when things are hard.

So while I’m balancing magazine production, film work, advocacy, and everything in between, this is your reminder (and mine):

You’re allowed to create quietly.

You’re allowed to rest while you build.

You’re allowed to hold serious responsibility and a pink notebook at the same time.

Back to editing pages and production notes now — but the magic is still happening, even in the pauses.

Alt text:

Self-portrait of a woman with long pink hair tied in a high ponytail, wearing dark-framed glasses and a black top, sitting indoors and looking directly at the camera. She is holding a pen poised over an open pink Hello Kitty notebook or pencil case that reads “TEAM HELLO KITTY,” decorated with multiple Hello Kitty illustrations. A subtle sparkle/star filter is overlaid around the image, and the watermark “KawaiiDollDecora.uk” appears in white text.

The overall mood is creative, cosy, and focused.
