The Same Cycles:

The same cycles:

Every day feels like the same cycle.

I work hard. I sacrifice. I give my time, my energy, my lived experience, and my voice to causes I genuinely care about.

Yet alongside the good, there always seems to be another obstacle waiting.

Backlash.

Criticism.

Abuse.

Ostracism.

False allegations.

Hate campaigns.

Rejections.

Opportunities disappearing without explanation.

What I struggle to understand is why so many people choose to add to someone else's burden rather than lighten it.

Life is already difficult enough.

Many disabled people are already fighting battles most never see. We navigate pain, fatigue, accessibility barriers, discrimination, financial pressures, and health challenges every single day. Advocacy doesn't remove those struggles; it often adds to them.

Yet despite that, we keep showing up.

We speak up when it's easier to stay silent.

We challenge injustice when it's easier to look away.

We support others even when we ourselves are struggling.

What hurts isn't hard work. I've never been afraid of hard work.

What hurts is watching kindness be met with hostility, effort be met with dismissal, and genuine attempts to help be met with suspicion or abuse.

I don't expect praise.

I don't expect special treatment.

But I do wish we lived in a world where more people chose empathy over cruelty, understanding over assumptions, and support over sabotage.

Because none of us know how much someone else is already carrying.

Sometimes the greatest thing we can do for another person is simply refuse to make their load any heavier.

If you can't help, at least don't harm. ❤️

Alt Text:

A square disability advocacy graphic featuring a group of disabled people and allies gathered outdoors at a public event on a sunny day. Several wheelchair users are visible in the foreground, with campaigners and community members standing together in the background. Large text reads: "Every day is the same. I work hard. I sacrifice. I take hits. I keep showing up." Additional text references challenges faced by advocates, including hate, backlash, abuse, ostracism, removals, rejections, and hate campaigns. A pink speech bubble states: "I don't understand why this world likes to add to another's struggles." The graphic encourages disabled advocates, survivors, and change makers by stating: "Your work matters. Your voice matters. You are not alone." Icons along the bottom represent time, lived experience, disability rights, compassion, and community, alongside Sarah Wingfield's name and advocacy branding. The overall message highlights resilience, perseverance, and the emotional toll often experienced by disabled advocates who continue showing up despite adversity. ❤️♿🌍
