The Truth about my false community protection notice:
I couldn't do a video interview about one of my experiences of sexual assault because I was worried about retaliation. I didn't feel protected from that risk, and I stand with all survivors. 💜💜💜
I tried to seek help from a local support group, but in my experience they breached a verbal agreement between the police, the group and myself to remain impartial regarding another incident.
After I left, I believe some members were encouraged by the group's facilitator to make false allegations about me, which led to an unsigned and undated Community Protection Notice being issued. That notice has since expired, yet people who have been targeting me online continue to circulate it under false pretences.
What is particularly upsetting is seeing people repeat claims without understanding the circumstances. The information and evidence I have chosen to share are available on my blog, yet some continue to spread a misleading narrative. I believe those involved in safeguarding and community work should hold themselves to a higher standard by checking facts before making or repeating allegations.
Responding to someone who has already experienced abuse with more abuse is never the answer.
I don't mind if people disagree with me, but I will continue to say this:
Enabling harmful behaviour is part of the problem, not the solution.
Accountability, integrity and genuine support for survivors should always come first.
