Meeting and enquiries:

Alan Strickland MP was just at our town's council meeting and he explained chancellor Rachel Reeves' decision regarding fuel costs.

For pensioners not on pension credit, the fuel payments were removed because previous government overestimated funds including asylum funds and they had a large amount to find to cover their costs therefore they made a snap decision they were reluctant to make to remove the fuel cost support for those not on pension credits. They are looking into a three tier system to help those on pension credits and are advocating to increase people applying to pension credits.

GPs and Dentist issues as well as NHS and social care was brought to his attention along with safe crossings around the town and the issues with stores being empty. I, personally, was thinking about shop share initiatives as a potential solution but it would definitely depend on the company/companies that own the shops. Councillor Chandran made some good points regarding potential encouragement to fill stores, so we can cross our fingers and hope that Alan and our councillors will find a beneficial solution for all.

Alan Strickland is now aware of these issues however, with great thanks to all on Great Aycliffe Town Council for their care and constant hard work and support for our whole town.

For those who have been enquiring and to whom I assured I would keep updated.

If you have any serious enquiries I recommend you email Alan Strickland and/or contact the councillors responsible for your ward.

This is just an update as promised and I hope this answers all queries and helps with any current enquiries.
